Record Participation Marks the 22nd Taiwan National Women's Go Open
The 22nd Taiwan National Women's Go Open kicked off on September 24, with a record-breaking number of participants highlighting the growing momentum of women's Go in Taiwan. USE Electronics Co., Ltd. encourages the development of women's Go in Taiwan.
The tournament serves as an important gateway for aspiring female professional Go players in Taiwan. Many prominent players—such as CHANG Kai-Hsin, Hsieh Yi-Min, Joanne Missingham, as well as rising talents YU Li-chun and YANG Tzu Hsuan—have previously won this event and gone on to become well-known professional players.
Junko Kato, CEO and President of USE Electronics Co., Ltd., attended the event to observe the competition and offer support. She noted that Go is an important cultural heritage in East Asia with a history spanning thousands of years, and encouraged players to gain practical experience through competition. She also expressed hopes that players will achieve outstanding results in international tournaments and compete on the global stage.
Following a two-year hiatus, this year's tournament reached a record high of 393 participants, reflecting strong enthusiasm and intense competition. In the high-dan division, after five rounds of play, the competition advanced to a final playoff. In the end, LI Chia-Hsing (7-dan) defeated CHEN Pin-hua (6-dan) to claim her first Women's Open championship title in the 6–7 dan division. We are pleased to see the continued growth of women's Go in Taiwan and encourage ongoing support for these talented players.
