USE Announces the Grand Reopening of Its Renovated Eslite Spectrum Songyan Counter
Promoting Japanese Culture — Enhancing Everyday Life with Art
To further promote the appreciation of Japanese culture, the counter now features Bizen ware by Isezaki Kyo and Isezaki Shu, along with selected works by Ogino Tansetsu, whose calligraphy designs include the well-known Japanese whisky brands HIBIKI 響 and 知多 (Chita), the gin ROKU 六, as well as title designs for NHK productions such as "新選組！" and the morning drama Asuka.
Notably, the calligraphy for USE's corporate logo 友士 and the calligraphy for the Japanese sake 福壽, produced by Kobe Shu-Shin-Kan Breweries, Ltd. were also created by Ogino Tansetsu.
Bizen ware, one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns, originates from the Inbe area of Bizen City in Okayama Prefecture and has a history of nearly a thousand years. It was designated as a Japan Heritage site in 2017. Made using clay sourced from Bizen, this unglazed and undecorated pottery features natural patterns created through kiln placement and fire effects. Artist Isezaki Kyo is especially renowned for works showcasing the traditional hidasuki pattern, formed by wrapping rice straw around the pottery before firing, which reacts with the flames to create distinctive red streaks.
