Japanese Shochu Meets Taiwan's Cocktail Culture: DAIYAME Sparks a New Wave of Flavor

Shochu has long been a staple on Japanese dining tables. Whether it's a casual drink after work, a perfect pairing with izakaya dishes, or a relaxed sip during family gatherings, its smooth taste and light body have made it a favorite among Japanese consumers for generations. Offering a unique experience distinct from whisky or sake, shochu stands out for its approachable character and diverse flavor profiles.
In recent years, Taiwan's younger generation has embraced a drinking culture that values creativity and easy enjoyment—opening the door for shochu to blend seamlessly into local lifestyles.
Convenience Store Mixology: Shochu Becomes Part of Everyday Taiwan
The rise of convenience store cocktails among young consumers has turned ready-to-drink beverages into popular mixology ingredients. From lime cola and tea-based highballs to sparkling creations, this trend showcases a new generation's creativity in flavor.
During the Taipei International Wine & Spirits Festival in November, we introduced three signature cocktails featuring DAIYAME sweet potato shochu as the base, as the exclusive distributor of Hamada Syuzou in Taiwan. Visitors were invited to explore the versatility of shochu in mixology, attracting around 500 participants and receiving enthusiastic feedback.
Hamada Syuzou's flagship product, DAIYAME, uses a proprietary aging technique that releases a stunning aroma reminiscent of fresh lychee—shattering traditional perceptions of sweet potato shochu. Its light, refreshing taste has become a sensation in Japan and earned multiple international spirits awards, making it one of the most talked-about shochu brands in recent years.

- Bright lychee fragrance with an elegant aroma and a light, smooth body.
- Perfect as a cocktail base, offering layered complexity.
- Crisp and refreshing, ideal for any occasion.
